Walking around Komissa you get the feeling of a down-to-earth warmth of a bygone era, with modern touches in the design and with the action spread over 2 levels – on the one side with the small tables in the village square and on the other in the backyard, for dining drinking refreshing spritzes that come from its impressive outdoor bar.
It all started when two friends – Laertis and Markos – fell in love with the beautiful village of Komi and decided to ellaborate their own creative presence, with a fresh proposition that escapes the trivial, a Komissa (Countess) with nobility and delicacy that has deservedly earned its place in the restaurant pantheon of the island of Tinos.
Chef Thanos Chalastis proposes traditional Greek cuisine in its modern, more refined version, starting with a dreamy brunch – with suggestions such as the fluffy pancakes DULCE – to give the baton to the lunch menu and dishes such as the stringy chickpea with shrimps and tarama or the chicken breast with trachanot and Tinos mizithra (a revelation!)
The raw materials here are mainly local: a sweet sensuality hits the palate with the Tinian plateau that excites the appetite, with cheeses such as volaki and kopanisti, the wonderful louse, capers and olives. One sip from the wine list recommended by the charismatic sommelier Aris Sklavenitis and the mouth explodes with flavor.
With an aristocratic air and the stone, pale white Cycladic scenery of Komi, Komissa turns into an exploration: a journey not only to Tinos, but also to its culinary world, given in the light of today. Don’t miss to try the baked lamb loukumi, with celeriac puree with fried parsley and butter potatoes, you will be amazed.
