The Brunchers: Brunch as absolute perfection, in the centre of Athens

    If brunch is the new universal Athenian religion, the impressive The Brunchers, which opened its doors for the first time just this year in Psirri, is its temple. The city’s only (exclusive at least) bruncherie hides many aces up its sleeve, serves its visitors from early in the morning and is already a daily meeting point for many people thanks to the creativity of its executive chef Iosif Sykianakis, who has worked at the iconic Super Paradise, Cavo Paradiso, Barbarossa, etc.

    Its menu is a journey through the breakfasts of the world, with the “usual suspects” such as the excellent Croque Madame with its velvety béchamel and its eggs poached to perfection, but also unbeatable tacos with chicken, guacamole and pico de gallo or the delectable pancakes with hazelnut cream, banana or strawberries, cashews and rich chocolate syrup that triumph in their simplicity due to their quality ingredients. Speaking of raw materials, many of them arrive from Amfilochia, a Greek countryside, which is also the place of origin of the owners of The Brunchers.

    You’ll find egg preparations in various versions – another “must” the local tomato kayanas, the delicious pasta, such as the penne of Chicken & Mushroom, with tender grilled chicken, flavored porcini and Parmesan flakes, an absolute revelation – or even pizzas, baked according to the Neapolitan law of thin slow-ripened dough and unimaginable deliciousness. Tartufo & Prosciutto is an unmissable option, while the exuberant, one of a kind, offerings of The Brunchers include burgers, healthy bowls, and fresh salads. Its Italian tiramisu is also sensational.

    In a restaurant that invests so much in its morning-lunch zone, coffee is of course of key importance. For this reason, an easy-drinking, balanced blend has been chosen – very good both cold or hot – it flows meticulously in the beautiful La Marzocco espresso machine, along with 2 single origins for specialty coffee connoisseurs. Of course, if you’re in the mood, you can also drink proper cocktails such as a cool Mimosa or an Aperol.
