Prosopa: Fine gastronomy by the train rails

    It is unbelievable how fast time passes and even more incredible how much creative development it can bring to a restaurant, making it one of the undisputed “classics”. Giannis Goumas’s Prosopa, in their 23 years of uninterrupted operation, may not need recommendations, but they certainly need to be communicated like the news, since every season they have a magical gift to reinvent their kitchen with new dishes, always ahead of fashion and trends. 

    It is almost reflexive now in the summer to look for outdoor spaces and courtyards to cool our minds and excite our palate. Prosopa offers this idyllic landscape in the adjacent lush square, with comfortable seating areas and rows of lanterns, but most importantly through a menu with new additions, new ideas, new flavors from the sea and the land: refreshing ceviche, wonderful sea bream, insurmountable octopus with tarama, yuzu and flaxseed pickle, go together with the signature fresh ravioli stuffed with mushrooms, and the wonderful risotti in various versions.

    As far as meat goes, cuts such as picanha and striploin from black angus, accompanied by baked baby potatoes, are a must try for lovers of the flesh, as are salads that combine ideas, textures and colors, with spectacular results. What characterizes every dish at Prosopa, is the balance of quality and price, making it accessible to each and everyone of us, with the non-negotiable rule of using fresh, quality raw materials from every corner of Greece, with sharpened criteria and without pretense.

    Naturally, foreign and Greek guests mingle at their tables, with a happy mood that extends to their team and the general service, which is sleek and caring. Contributing to this is a capable bar that mixes in its shakers all the established and signature cocktails to perfection, as well as the wine cellar that hosts wonderful labels of Greek mainly vineyard, for the perfect food pairings.

    Prosopa is one of the few cases where the richness of Mediterranean cuisine experiences such moments. Influenced by the culinary traditions of the whole world, it can be characterized as charismatic, situated by the train lines, creating wonderful summer moments that do not falter anywhere. That’s, everything you need for your visit, when you are thirsty for delicious outings and relaxing memories. For a sweet finale, make room for their excellent banoffee.
